Nick Diaz: It’s hard To Make Both Ends Meet After Suspension
“Even if that means leaving the belt on the line and leaving somebody else to fight whoever has that belt at that time, I’m willing to do that”.
Nick Diaz won’t be fighting in UFC for a while after picking up a lengthy drugs ban, but he has sung Ronda Rousey’s praises after she stuck up for him. She’s like me, only a girl. His training partner and friend Ronda Rousey, arguably the most famous MMA fighter on the planet, lashed out at the commission two days after the decision. A lot of guys have to worry about what their wives and kids think, I don’t.
“They’ve done everything they can to keep me from being all the way on top, where I should be”, Diaz said to reporters. “They’ve taken it away from me”.
Diaz didn’t make things easier on himself with his failed tests and belligerent attitude and the writing was on the wall for his severe punishment.
Nick’s trainer Jason Heit has also come forward for his defense saying that Nick’s suspension is absolutely insane saying that a person who tests positive for steroids is banned for one year while a person who smokes marijuana for his own happiness is banned for five years, unusual world we live in.
The NSAC justified Diaz’s suspension by adding that previous violations-a no-show for a pre-fight test in California and his involvement in brawl in Strikeforce in 2010-impacted the sentence.
This time, though, the recently retired pay-per-view kingpin was clearly on Diaz’s side.
“I’m just trying to make ends meet”, he said.
There is very little chance that another state or governing body would let Diaz compete, especially ones that are part of the Association of Boxing Commissions like Nevada. He also said that he is now paying attention to his finances and hope that he would be able to fight in other states so he could earn a living.
