Nick Easton to 49ers
While confirmation or compensation has yet to emerge, it’s likely that the Ravens will receive a late-round pick in return for Easton.
It’s not quite as splashy a deal as the one the two teams swung in 2013 to send Anquan Boldin to the Niners, but it does give the team some depth behind Marcus Martin while 2014 starter Daniel Kilgore opens the regular season on the PUP list. Kilgore will start the season on the physically-unable-yo-perform record, which means he’ll miss a minimum of the primary six video games. Dillon Farrell, who appeared in eight games past year for San Francisco, and sixth-round pick Ian Silberman have played center this preseason.
John Harbaugh had a brief conversation with general manager Ozzie Newsome on the practice field today, and then the head coach went over to speak to Easton presumably about the trade.
Easton is listed at 6-3, 300 pounds.
Easton, as part of arguably the top offensive line in football this preseason, posted the NFL’s best ProFootballFocus grade at center – 9.1 overall with a 7.7 run-blocking rating.
Last month the 49ers traded tight end Asante Cleveland to another AFC team, the Patriots, in exchange for guard Jordan Devey. The 49ers and Ravens have been commerce companions prior to now.
The San Francisco 49ers have acquired a reserve center on cut down day. The 49ers can re-sign him after Week 9.
