Nick Foles will start for Rams at QB
The St. Louis Rams are likely to start Nick Foles at quarterback against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday with Case Keenum still not cleared from the league’s concussion protocol.
The St. Louis Rams will not face any kind of penalties for their handling of quarterback Case Keenum after he suffered a head injury late in last week’s game, according to Adam Schefter.
He also added that the trainer spoke to Keenum, who said he was OK, per Seifert.
“It was a learning experience”, the person said. Keenum sustained a concussion during last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens when he was thrown violently to the turf by defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan.
The game was not stopped and Keenum was not removed from the field.
Fisher said Keenum will undergo additional tests Saturday.
It was obvious that Keenum, whose head slammed off the ground in the fourth quarter, was dazed, yet the Rams allowed him to remain in the game for two more plays after head athletic trainer Reggie Scott checked on the QB.
The series of events triggered an National Football League investigation. The spotter is instructed, under the current system, not to take further action if a team’s medical staff is taking steps to examine the player, according to the person with knowledge of the league’s review.
The NFL held a conference call with all 32 medical teams last week which served as a warning to the rest of the league that discipline could be coming in the future, sources told La Canfora.
