Nicki Minaj & More Star in BARBERSHOP: THE NEXT CUT

“Barbershop: TNC” marks Minaj’s third film (her first was 2012’s “Ice Age: Continental Drift”), and according to the film’s director Malcolm Lee, she performed admirably.

The Barbershop series of films have always been organized over the notion of the barbershop as a central pillar of black community, a place for friends to congregate and relax, take pleasure in one another’s company, and shoot the bull while tightening up a fade.

The Next Cut hits theaters, it will have been 12 years since the previous comedy sequel hit theaters, and 11 years since the spin-off Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah arrived. But the new sequel aims to combine both worlds (kinda), and has them teaming up to fight the increasing presence of gang violence on the streets of Chicago and around the barbershop itself.

In this installment, Angie and Calvin join forces to keep their shops afloat. As Chicago grows more and more unsafe due to gang violence, the crew from Calvin’s has to come together to help save the community and their own family.

Barbershop: The Next Cut comes to theaters on April 15th, 2016.
