Nicolas Otamendi close to Premier League move
Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi is edging closer towards moving to the Premier League with Manchester United, according to Valencia-based TV station Sillas Gol.
It is believed that Valencia are holding out for fee of £36m for Otamendi and will not budge on their asking price.
Both City and United could do with cover at centre-back with Louis van Gaal having to use Daley Blind against Spurs and none of Manuel Pellegrini’s options have impressed in the past year.
Interest in Sergio Ramos then took over and has grabbed everybody’s attention but now that he has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, focus has turned straight back to Otamendi, especially after the latest reports coming out of Spain.
The paper carries quotes from the station’s director, Nacho Cotino, which were posted on Twitter claiming that they have obtained legal and tax-based proof that the deal is close to completion. United are also expected to wrap up the signing of Barcelona forward, Pedro, who scored the victor in his farewell appearance against Sevilla, in the super cup.
It has been claimed that the paperwork of the proposed transfer to Manchester United is being prepared and Otamendi is on the verge of moving to Old Trafford. The Argentine will not only improve their defence, but would also bring in some leadership qualities into the dressing room.
