Nielsen: 11 million viewers for ‘The Wiz’
The biggest problem with The Wiz Live! was clumsy camerawork.
“The Wiz Live!” follow’s last year’s NBC production of “Peter Pan”, featuring Allison Williams, and two years after viewers tuned in to see Carrie Underwood in “The Sound of Music.”.
The hyper-color musical offered many sensational moments during the broadcast. “The Sound of Music Live!” had great numbers in kicking off this trend, but most of the reviews were tepid at best.

Well, perhaps that was the second flaw after the choice of the show itself, a middling representative from the Broadway canon better known for its “Ease On Down The Road” TV spot and the camp-fest 1978 film that starred Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
