Nigerian Army rescues at least 12 women and children from Boko Haram
The colonel, who is also the Acting Director of Defence Information for the military, added that numerous Nigerian Army and Air Force have cleared out several Boko Haram strongholds, including several camps in the Sambisa forest.
“Furthermore, more men, women and children were rescued from the terrorists at Buduwa area along Bama axis”.
He welcomed the pronouncement by President Buhari that some members of the Boko Haram terrorist group are in negotiation with the Federal Government over the possibility of releasing the Chibok girls abducted on April 14, 2014.
“We know Boko Haram is linked to Daesh and so receives help [and] support from this group”, Hollande said Monday alongside Buhari at a press conference in Paris, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State.
“The Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Nigerian Airforce and other security agencies will continue to device and implement effective strategies to bring Boko Haram terrorism to a speedy end”.
But he said the government would not agree to this demand.
CCC also said terrorists who want to genuinely negotiate do not desire any form of monetary compensation, as they are simply exhausted of fighting a war they were “deceived” into joining, and want to surrender their arms in exchange for reintegration into the society.
The Nigeria army says it has arrested some producers of fake national identity cards and other documents for Boko Haram.
It is thought that since Mr Buhari’s election, Boko Haram has killed more than 1,000 people and around 2.1 million have fled their homes.
The girls have been missing for well over a year, with many fearing that they’ve been converted into suicide bombers by the terrorists.
Boko Haram has weakened since government troops from Chad and Nigeria pushed the group out from around 25 towns where the militants had declared a caliphate.
