Nigerian military clears more terrorist camps
Nigerian troops operating in northeast part of the country said on Friday that they had cleared nine more suspected Boko Haram terrorist camps in its operations in restive Borno State.
The Saturday raids, described by the army as a “major operation” on four militant camps, also led to the killing of “a good number of Boko Haram” fighters according to spokesman Col. Tukur Gusau.
A few of the terrorists fled, abandoning their weapons.
Mr. Gusau said the rescued persons, including 14 children and six women, were held in captivity by the terrorists before they were rescued by the army.
It said the rescued civilians were receiving treatment at a military medical facility in the area.
“In addition, a suspected female member of the terrorists group was captured and is now undergoing interrogation,” he added. He also assured that the morale of the troops remained very high and well motivated.
