Nik Wallenda to attempt his longest ever tightrope walk during appearance at
On August 11, this seventh generation wire walker will take his longest high-altitude stroll *ever* at the Wisconsin State Fair.
The world famous wire walker Nik Wallenda broke his own record Tuesday evening. “That’s where I feel at home”, the nine-time world record holder added.
Wallenda walked almost 1,600 feet 10 stories above the Milkwaukee Mile.
His longest walk prior to the walk at the Wisconsin State Fair was across the Grand Canyon.
“I understand this is gonna be the longest walk that he’s ever done”, Amber Daugherty said.
“It’s just something that we do as a family, It’s something fun and exciting, just like families go and play baseball or softball or football in the backyard for the company picnic, we play on wires”, said Wallenda.
“I’ve got dreams of walking over an active volcano, of course always outdoing myself in distance and height”, Wallenda said. He was the last Wallenda to appear in Wisconsin, walking the wire in 1974. “It will take a lot of endurance”, Wallenda said.
“That was his thing”. He always did a handstand. He’ll be wearing soft shoes made by his mother, Delilah who’s a member of the famous flying Wallendas.
“We like to call ourselves Nik’s grip”, Ty McFarlan said.
“They’re supposed to protect him”, she said.
A year before Wallenda was born, his great-grandfather Karl Wallenda fell to his death during a tightrope stunt in Puerto Rico.
Hundreds of fans lined up after his walk, and he signed every autograph. But the FOX6 Weather Experts say we should see plenty of sunshine on Tuesday.
