Nik Wallenda to attempt his longest tightrope walk ever during appearance at
Acrobat Nik Wallenda on Tuesday completed his longest high-wire walk ever above the Milwaukee Mile racetrack during the Wisconsin State Fair, ending with a thumbs up to the crowd below giving him a wild ovation, a fair official said.
The world famous wire walker Nik Wallenda broke his own record Tuesday evening.
Wallenda plans to walk 1,576 feet at more than 10 stories above the Milwaukee Mile speedway, located on the fairgrounds. He’s made a name for himself – walking across Niagara Falls and between skyscrapers in Chicago. Wallenda said he wears them for every single tightrope walk. Wallenda will be attempting this on a wire that’s no wider than a nickel. And since Wallenda is the reigning Guinness World Records holder for wire-walking, it’s the longest wire walk ever. “It’s something that I love doing that I have passion for”, Wallenda said. He was the last Wallenda to appear in Wisconsin, walking the wire in 1974.
“It really comes down to endurance and mental focus, being able to focus for that long is a challenge”, Wallenda said.
His family will be there, looking on, including his mother.
“He calls us and asks us to come with him because he trusts us”, Paulo Rodriguez said. But the FOX6 Weather Experts say we should see plenty of sunshine on Tuesday.
