Nile replaces Starc in Australia squad
David Warner of Australia and Brendon McCullum of New Zealand shake hands at the conclusion of the match during day three of the Third Test match between Australia and New Zealand at Adelaide Oval on November 29, 2015 in Adelaide, Australia.
Uncapped paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile has been included in Australia’s squad for next week’s first Test against West Indies in Hobart. “We believe that having the ability to move matches into the evening provides cricket fans with greater access to the game and there is no doubt that this will help grow interest in Test cricket”.
The Western Australian pacer has been selected in place of the injured Mitchell Starc who is out for the rest of the Australian summer after suffering a stress fracture in his right foot during the third Test against New Zealand in Adelaide. “I think if we get early wickets with the new ball, you can get guys like Shaun Marsh and those guys who are now trying to make their way back into the side, put them under some pressure to score”.
“I had a couple more cortisones after the Perth test so it’s actually been something that’s been managed quite well and it’s been going better than probably expected than how it was”.
“The land of the long white cloud could taste a series-drawing victory in the inaugural day-night test, and a long dark cloud will linger over the pink ball showpiece after Nigel Llong’s farcical DRS howler on day two ultimately proved decisive in Australia’s extraordinary comeback”. New Zealand had referred the appeal upstairs.
They drew 1-1 with England in a three-match series in the Caribbean, were swept 0-2 by the Australians a month later before being hammered 0-2 away to Sri Lanka earlier this month. “Have they left the ground or something?”
Siddle was unable to hit a boundary but after forcing a shot through point, he and a limping Starc scampered up and down the pitch for the winning runs.
“Injury’s always disappointing but that’s part and parcel of fast bowling so it’s about recovering now and healing and getting back on the horse and I guess working back on my bowling”. “It had a bearing but at the end we had an opportunity and weren’t good enough to take it”, he added.
Australia won the first day-night Test and clinched a series win over New Zealand thanks largely to Josh Hazlewood and Shaun Marsh.
