Nine people die in OH plane crash
A mass-fatality team was on Wednesday working to recover the bodies of victims and sift through the wreckage.
Police would only confirm that there were “deaths” on board the plane, but could not say how many people had been killed.
The the 10-seat Hawker H25 jet was based out of Ft.
But the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Summit County Medical Examiner will try to piece together the final moments of the flight.
It happened just two miles from the airport. He also says no one else on the ground was injured. The plane then hit an embankment and another residential building, Haymaker added.
Bill Haymaker said the jet clipped a utility wire before hitting the home where it burst into flames and disintegrated after the impact.
“Outside of a controlled runway landing, getting a plane down safely in an emergency would have been a very tough task”, Vagell said.
According to the lieutenant, it is unknown if anyone was at the building where the plane crashed, but that the roof partially collapsed. “It was horrific. It was bad”, said witness Roberta Porter. The middle building was struck by the plane.
“When I heard it, something told me it was a plane, but I didn’t want to believe that”, Yergin said. She was driving home Tuesday afternoon when she saw the plane crash into the building and burst into flames. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the plane fall out of the sky and a huge ball of fire after the crash, which happened shortly before 3 pm local time yesterday.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
But video from the scene showed a massive fire, which authorities say has since been extinguished. No other information was immediately available.
