Many duck fans are reacting to the news of Chip Kelly’s new position with the San Francisco 49ers.

Kelly was sacked by Philadelphia earlier this month before the season had concluded after three years in the role, with the Eagles showing him the door after a hugely disappointing 7-9 NFC East season.

The 52-year-old’s relationship with the front office faltered, and that eventually led to his firing days before the season finale with the Eagles 6-9 on the season.

Kelly was sacked by Philadelphia after Week 16 with one game remaining in his third season as coach. It appears that Kelly will not have the same control over the roster decisions that he had with the Eagles.

“While we have no idea what kind of career Hayne will end up having in the National Football League, he strikes me as the kind of weapon that Chip Kelly will have some fun with this coming season”, Fucillo wrote.

Assuming the 49ers have spread out Kelly’s contract evenly, the deal should pay him $6 million a year, or $12 million over the next two years. If San Francisco hired Chip Kelly with the intention of fixing its quarterback woes, Colin Kaepernick was blissfully unaware.

Armstead promptly expressed his congratulations Thursday to Kelly via Twitter, noting: “We won a lot of games together in college (and) excited about working to do that at this level”.

The one area that Kelly needs to really improve upon is how he relates to his players.

This is not the University of OR, where full control of a collegiate program, plus Phil Knight’s state-of-the-art Nike facilities and a dynamic spread offense annually results in elite recruitment, along with double-digit win totals.
