Nintendo Direct January 2018 brings Luigi to Super Mario Odyssey
Then today the company simply uploaded a video, updated the upcoming releases section of its website, and went ahead tweeting about all of the new announcements just like it would after any other Direct, showing Mario in new DLC outfits for instance rather than on fire. The title is coming out this spring. But Nintendo also announced that Donkey Kong will make his debut on Switch this year, with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze releasing on May 4th.
A free update to Super Mario Odyssey in February will add a new mini-game called Balloon World, which will also see Luigi come to the game as he’s in charge of the mini-game.
The new DLC will be part of a free update that will be released in February.
In an interview with French tech magazine Les Numériques, France’s Nintendo Managing Director Philippe Lavoué said that we should expect further titles from EA during the lifespan of the Nintendo Switch.
The game is coming on March 16 and our playable character Kirby will be going to get a new Artist ability. It’ll be joined later this year by ports of Dark Souls and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will also be rereleasing for the Nintendo Switch.
“With the Switch, Nintendo astutely used its residual strength in the handheld console market to deliver an innovative and attractive hybrid console strategy”.
Here are all of the new games that Nintendo announced on Thursday morning: Mario Tennis Aces and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. Nintendo didn’t release DLC for most Wii U games but they are changing that with Nintendo Switch games.
Nintendo’s 2018 lineup may not be quite as strong as those AAA titles, however, and some of the games already have been released either for the Wii U or on other platforms.
The first was for Pokken Tournament DX, which brings Aegislash, Blastoise and Mew in a paid DLC Battle Pack, along with new avatar items. As anyone who played those games – or the brilliant Switch title Golf Story – knows, these sports story modes tend to be incredibly entertaining detours from the competitive play that are loaded with creative minigames. Meanwhile, Celeste is a charming side-scroller that seems to combine Super Meat Boy and rock climbing. The game port will be enhanced “with HD visuals”, and its story has been expanded with the addition of a new epilogue. You can find him rambling about Persona and cute animals on Twitter.
