Nintendo NX release date rumors: cheap but powerful gaming system

According to him, it is not likely that Nintendo will schedule Nintendo NX for production that fast, based on the nature of the video game giant.

The Nintendo NX was rumoured to be less of a singular console but actually a platform, which would include both a handheld and home console device. Mochizuki also added that aside from being released in 2016, the new console will be coming out with a much stronger processor.

“We are increasingly of the idea that Nintendo might launch the NX in 2016 because of the softness of 3DS and Wii U”, Macquarie Capital Securities analyst David Gibson told the Wall Street Journal.

These industry-leading chips could be a result of the criticism that Nintendo has faced with its Wii U console not having enough power to compete with Sony and Microsoft’s respective PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Callahan, who previously talked about “Diddiy Kong Racing 2” being developed for Wii or 3DS is now saying that the game will now be moved to Nintendo NX and will possibly sell it at a low price.

Nintendo hasn’t said much about the new console’s design or form factor, but the report claims that it’s likely going to have a console and at least one mobile unit “that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use”.

Nintendo has been keeping mom as to what the NX is, but according to the report by Forbes, development kits for the NX are starting to be sent out and a handful of developers may already have their hands on a few.

Nintendo making its NX display controller into a removable mobile device would fit directly into the company’s plans to embrace mobile gaming. WSJ notes that the kit is utilized by third-party devs to “modify existing games for the platform or create new ones”.
