Nintendo Reverses Into Quarterly Profit on Yen, Sales Growth
The loss of Iwata has raised questions about Nintendo’s future as it faces stiff competition from Sony and Microsoft in console sales, and as the trio battle the trend toward cheap – or sometimes free – downloadable games for smartphones and other mobile devices.
Already this year we’ve seen numerous rumors about the Nintendo NX, from the possibility of it being a hybrid machine with a portable aspect, to it running Android as the main operating system. What the company referred to as a “Nintendo-like solution” could be Alternate/Virtual reality, which the site claims could hit $150 billion by 2020.
Nintendo recently disavowed VR as “not fun”.
In summation, Digi-Captial believes the NX will be a less powerful system than either PS4 or Xbox One, but will be optimised for VR without Nintendo investing in dedicated wearable teach like Project Morpheus or HoloLens. “Edition”.
