Nintendo Says Mario Is Not Currently A Plumber, Apparently
Speaking of Super Mario Odyssey, newly released amiibo packaging design may have just revealed more kingdoms in the game.
But if the latest profile update for Mario is anything to go by, he has long stopped plumbing. Instead, he’s seemingly a pro athlete.
A sporty Mario can play the role of every character whether it’s soccer or tennis, baseball or vehicle racing, he does everything cool.
Via Google Translate, it says: “Actually, there seems to have been work on “plumber” a long time ago…”.
While “everything cool” doesn’t specifically imply a sole focus on sports, each of Nintendo’s examples sure does. Mario’s career as a plumber was a key part of him no matter what kind of powers he gained from mushrooms, flowers, leaves, and stars. The game is sounding absolutely incredible, but there’s still so much that we’re yet to know about the game.
“#Super Mario 64” showed that Nintendo was more than capable of transitioning from 2D to 3D, and it ended up being one of the games on the Nintendo 64. This comes as no surprise, considering it’s been years since Mario’s really worked his supposed job.
For those who aren’t aware, Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto originally intended for him to be a carpenter.
“Okay, so that plumber from the Donkey Kong games, he has to save this princess from a big reptile thing, who also happens to be a King”. We’ll keep you updated. Then, in 1982, the original “Mario Bros” game was released. With his new hat called “Cappy”, new powers that are not available in older iterations are now possessed by Super Mario. “The scenario dictates his role”.
