Nintendo to produce animation film on Super Mario
Now, the company has confirmed that initial report, and there will soon be another Mario movie in the world.
The upcoming animated Super Mario film’s development has officially begun.
According to a recent Tweet from Nintendo, the game and film studio are partnering up to create a new movie Super Mario movie. The project will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and distributed theatrically worldwide by Universal.
Murmurs of an animated Super Mario movie began three years ago, when it was revealed Sony had made an attempt to land the license.
As of now, there is no information on the release date of the movie.
However, should Nintendo and Illumination prove to have a victor on their hands with their take on Super Mario Bros., this could usher in the dawn of Nintendo’s many franchises delving further and further into the mainstream.
The @NintendoAmerica Twitter account celebrated the announcement with a generic photo of Mario.
In January, Nintendo announced a cardboard-based accessory known as Labo to its popular Switch console in an effort to make it more than just a game console.
Nintendo’s star game designer Shigeru Miyamoto told reporters Thursday the script is mostly finished.

The Mario movie from 1993 starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo is probably one of the most mocked and ridiculed films of all time. That is unless this new movie is somehow even worse. Video game films are a make or break deal in Hollywood. The list includes the New Regency’s live-action “Assassin’s Creed”, Legendary’s “Warcraft” and Sony’s “Angry Birds”. Resident Evil spawned multiple sequels and Angry Birds is getting a sequel in 2019.
Not many details are available on the Mario movie.
