Nissan Leaf to go further in 2018
“It’s the awareness that comes with more entrants into the market”.
The design was one rather divisive aspect of the outgoing model. It’ll be interesting to see if Nissan changes that before the Leaf’s United Kingdom release.
We’re not sure how much the new Nissan Leaf will cost in the United Kingdom, but we can take a guess based on other released prices. With Chevrolet backing out of Indian markets, taking its fully-electric vehicle Bolt with it, and Tesla still trying to find a base of operations in the country, Nissan Leaf will only have competition from local players to worry about. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming. This will be more expensive to buy, but it will give an even longer range. Nissan has increased the range of the Leaf to 150 miles on the EPA cycle here in the USA with its 40-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The Japanese carmaker said it would offer higher priced model, with more power and range, next year. The company is characterizing it as an approximate 40 percent improvement from 107 miles for Leaf models on sale now.
It will go on sale in January 2018 around the globe and will be followed by a dedicated range of electric vehicles, including an all-electric SUV. The entry-level option of Tesla’s upcoming Model 3 offers 15 miles less than the new Nissan.
The restyled 2018 Leaf is lower and more sculpted than its bulbous predecessor, and Maragno said it also comes with new features that should attract new buyers. And if nothing else, it’s a real upgrade for existing Leaf owners at a price that should prove tempting to many. There are no 0 to 60 miles per hour figures yet, but it is expected to clock quite decent numbers given electric cars provide solid performance on that front. The core model is exemplar with automatic emergency braking.
The interior design creates a relaxed ambience and premium quality feel, due to carefully selected materials. In addition, the new driver information display has a simple, light configuration without excessive decoration. There is plenty of technology on board the new Leaf too, including Nissan’s autonomous ProPILOT system, ProPILOT Park and e-Pedal, as well as Apple CarPlay.
Nissan’s 2018 Leaf EV is expected to see a bump in sales as interest in electric vehicles is on the rise.
While a “hands-on” system, it previews Nissan’s ongoing development of future leading edge autonomous drive technologies.
The SAE level 2 feature makes auto driving easier on single-lane highways. The automatic acceleration and braking maintain a distance between the auto and vehicles ahead. “That is attractively cheap for a reliable and easily-serviceable electric vehicle”. In the meantime, you can save $30,000 for the initial premium of the vehicle, plus roughly $7,000 in federal tax that you’ll need to pay if you want it next year.
