No. 12 Baylor looking for Sugar bid without 3rd Big 12 title
A likely Sugar Bowl berth is on the line Saturday for the Bears, who with a win would represent their league against the SEC on New Year’s Day if Big 12 champion and No. 3 Oklahoma gets into the College Football Playoff as expected. Baylor, however, can close its regular season out on a positive note with a win over unranked Texas at McLane Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Score Prediction: Baylor – 45, Texas – 21 Will BaizerWithout the 7 of the Longhorns key starters and their best running back (4 of which are key players) I don’t see the Longhorns being able to put up much of a fight this game, no matter how willing and ready they are. The over/under for this game is 69 total points.
The Baylor Bears are looking to improve on their 9-2 record in the final game of the Big 12 season with a victory over one of the conference’s bottom-dwellers, the Texas Longhorns. However, before that there is one more game to go, at Baylor. Baylor Bears recorded 324.5 passing yards and 291.5 rushing yards while allowed 240.1 passing yards and 156.4 russhing yards with turnover differential of -0.3. Swoopes is going to have to hit a receiver at some point this season and game if he wants to help this team out. Tyrone Swoopes, replaced as the starter after the first game, is back in that role and still leads Texas with 11 touchdowns rushing. Coleman is the FBS leader with 20 touchdown catches. “But you look at our team and we played so well against Oklahoma, then you would have figured, OK, after that game you’ve got six to go play….”
The troubles under center are no secret as BU will be starting its third string QB against Texas as the Bears have had an unfortunate string of injuries this season. The result is that the Bears could end up in a better bowl than the two teams that beat the Bears. Baylor is known for their explosive pass plays downfield. With junior Seth Russell (neck) and freshman Jarrett Stidham (ankle) out for the season, it will be up to Johnson to guide the Bears the rest of the way. Well, that’s literally all the Horns have.
