No. 2 QB recruit Jacob Eason keeping commitment to Georgia
The second-ranked quarterback in the ESPN 300, Jacob Eason, is sticking with his commitment to Georgia. Shortly after, Eason reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to Georgia, the school with which he signed financial-aid paperwork in August, according to the Everett Herald and other outlets.
Eason, the son of former National Football League signal caller Tony Eason, had been deciding between Georgia, Florida and Washington after taking official visits to each school in the last several weeks. He will enroll in January.
The Jacob Eason saga has finally reached a close, and it was much ado about nothing all along.
He ended his high school career with 9,813 passing yards and 102 passing touchdowns.
Kirby Smart may elect to redshirt Eason and work on developing a system with his new coaches before trying to indoctrinate a freshman by the often-failed baptism by fire. Instead, Franks and Trask will likely vie with Treon Harris, Luke Del Rio, and Will Grier to be the player who gets a chance to put down Eason’s Bulldogs in Jacksonville for years to come.
Eason, who is still technically committed to Georgia, is set to make his decision later today.
