Turning a 2-10 team into a 10-2 team is almost unheard of in the college football universe.

Diaco is hopeful that quarterback Bryant Shirreffs, who missed the Temple game with a concussion, will be able to return to practice and barring any setbacks be good to go in the bowl game.

The Huskies, who totaled 138 yards of total offense, averaged 2.94 yards per play and totaled nine yards rushing.

It was the fourth time this season and fifth in his career that Matakevich has earned this honor.

Temple won the game with its defense, but running back Jahad Thomas victimized the Huskies for 119 yards and two touchdowns – one for nine yards to open the scoring and another of 60 yards to close Temple’s scoring. That run capped a four play-49 yard drive that saw Thomas carry the ball three times to go with a 16-yard pass completion from Walker to Romond Deloatch.

Houston was a 52-31 victor against No. 16/15 Navy Friday afternoon, improving the Cougars to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in The American.

The Owls added a 20-yard field goal by Austin Jones with 6:18 left in the half for the 10-0 halftime lead.

The UConn football regular season ends tonight in Philadelphia. It looks the same now as it did the first week of the season.

The Owls, now ranked as high as #20 in the polls, are headed to the American Athletic Conference Championship Game.

With the loss, CT will await their postseason destination after becoming bowl eligible with an upset win over Houston last week. USC will face Stanford next Saturday in the Trojans’ first trip to the Pac-12 title game.
