The other big lesson learned in this game is that in a super shootout such as this one, a coach should play to win a game by landing a knockout punch, not by trying to win a decision. He didn’t come down with the school record breaking 19th catch, but he got a hand on it.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Gerald Holmes scored two rushing touchdowns and Madre London added another as Michigan State overcame a sluggish performance to down Central Michigan. Plymouth freshman quarterback Zack Edwards completed 21 of 25 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown, but the Panthers (1-3, 0-2) couldn’t keep the momentum after taking a 7-6 lead after the first quarter.
Perhaps even crazier than the touchdown pass was TCU coach Gary Patterson’s gamble to rely on his defense in the last five minutes of the game.
