No arrests reported in altercation involving Iowa principal
(Glenwood) – Mills County authorities confirm that three people were injured in a shooting incident in Glenwood late Sunday afternoon.
Former Iowa State and North High School basketball standout Hurl Beechum has been charged with three felonies for shooting a 21-year-old man during a dispute here on Sunday.
An affidavit says a confrontation between Glenwood Community High School Principal Richard Hutchinson and a group of young adults led to a fight. Charges include intimidation with a unsafe weapon and assault causing bodily injury.
Officials believe Whitehouse was seeking retaliation for the shooting that injured Colton McDaniel because he is a friend of McDaniel’s. One of them was shot, but McSorley didn’t say whether that person was Hutchinson or say what injuries Hutchinson has suffered. Court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on Whitehouse’s behalf. When they searched the vehicle, officers found a gun under the driver’s seat and a samurai sword elsewhere in the truck.
