No bilateral meet or pull aside between Doval, Aziz: MEA
India and Afghanistan put up a united front to pile on the pressure. “Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan…”. “I am an elected political leader, I need to reflect my people’s sentiment”, Mr. Ghani said in an exclusive interview.
Meanwhile, Afghan President Ghani said no amount of money can assist the war-torn country if there is support to terrorists by Pakistan. “Silence and inaction on terror in Afghanistan and the region will only embolden terrorists and masters and those fund them”, Modi said. “I don’t want a blame game, and I want clarifications”, said Ghani.
In an interview on Monday, he said that implementation of the National Action Plan is being fully implemented to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country. Some states are still providing sanctuary or support to these terrorist groups, he said.
December 4 (ANI): Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
“Afghanistan suffered the highest number number of casualties a year ago”.
Terror took center stage at the meet as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also underlined his concerns about support that terrorism derives in the region.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely was present at the “Heart of Asia Conference” at Amritsar where he emphasised that the neighbours of Afghanistan have a responsibility in this regard.
“The three big issues of the Conference were: one, countering terrorism to create stability and security in Afghanistan; two, providing Afghanistan connectivity to strengthen economic activities; and three, development which is essential for the progress of Afghanistan”, he said.
It will also help India access the markets of Central Asia and Europe through Afghanistan, bypassing Pakistan. He further said that all involved countries must work together to eliminate terrorism in the region.
█ India’s assistance transparent and with no strings attached.
The conference has focused on finding ways to boost economy and bring peace and stability in Afghanistan, which has been mired in conflict since the US-led invasion of the country in 2001.
Ghani appreciated India’s unconditional support and said the expansion of the key Chabahar port between India, Iran and Afghanistan was very important for regional trade and connectivity.
