No bond for man arrested in shooting of Tulane med student
New Orleans police have arrested a man they believe to be the gunman in the shooting of a Tulane University medical student – an incident that was caught on security-camera video.
New Orleans police said Cain was arrested at his 17-year-old girlfriend’s home.
Euric Cain, 21, was arrested Monday morning and is accused of attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery, Louisiana’s The Advocate reported.
Police in the U.S. have arrested a man wanted over the ruthless shooting of a medical student in New Orleans.
Cain allegedly shot Tulane University medical student Peter Gold, 25, early on Friday after Gold, who had been driving past, intervened upon seeing Cain dragging a woman to his sport utility vehicle.
Gold survived the hellish ordeal due to the thug’s weapon being jammed as he tried to shoot him again in the head.
It could not be determined Monday night whether Cain was being represented by an attorney.
Police say Gold was shot after saying he didn’t have any money. There’s no audio, but police said he was explaining that he didn’t have any cash.
Cain also grabbed the woman’s purse before fleeing.
Gold has been is guarded condition since the shooting, but upgraded to stable condition Tuesday. “We ask that everyone continue to respect our family’s need for privacy during this time”.
The report said Washington told detectives she did not turn him in because she “did not want to get Mr. Cain in trouble and that she was afraid to say something”.
