No Chelsea Player Gets In Tottenham’s Team, Spurs Are Excellent – Harry Redknapp
City and Liverpool had earlier both struggled for their victories with the Reds’ win over Sunderland coming at a potentially high price with an ankle injury to Philippe Coutinho, who left the ground on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot.
The Italian coach expects a hard test at the Etihad Stadium but is adamant he has reason to be confident given the changes he has overseen among his players in recent weeks.
“We are disappointed, but we need to be pleased for the performance and the way we competed against a very good team”.
“If we were the same team (as) against Arsenal, Liverpool, today we lose the game”.
Spurs sit seven points adrift in fifth as things stand, and crashed out of the Champions League last week on the back of a disjointed campaign in Europe. “I want to play from the back and I ask this of my players”, he said.
But the Lilywhites lost that game, ending their prospects of advancing in the Champions League – and, while Mauricio Pochettino also showed his faith in Winks by bringing him off the bench in the 65th minute at Chelsea at the weekend, Spurs were defeated again.
“The back four, you get [Toby] Alderweireld back, you get [Danny] Rose back, you get a fully fit squad, and I think Tottenham are excellent”, Redknapp continued.
“It’s not right because we have to improve a lot and we have a long way in front of us”.
Chelsea is top of the table after 13 matches and face a huge trip to play Manchester City on Saturday. “We forced them to be that”.
“And he is playing some fantastic football for us”.
The lone Tottenham goal was the first scored in six games of a clean sheet run by Conte’s men.
“Last year, we were just doing recovery so we weren’t always ready for the game but that’s not the case now”.
Chelsea responded with a superb effort of their own as Pedro curled his shot past Hugo Lloris just before half-time, before Victor Moses completed the comeback early in the second half.
An 11′ Tottenham advantage by Eriksen was turned around by Chelsea at 45′ and 51′ by Pedro and Moses. Its normal in this type of game you can not dominate the whole game.
Winks added: “The manager trusts in all the players, all the young players”.
