No decision yet on joining Saudi-led alliance: Sartaj Aziz
While talking to the media after unveiling of feature film “Journey into Europe”, Aziz said that country’s policy and interest would be kept in mind for participation in the alliance.
The Government of Pakistan is awaiting details of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition against terrorism, Sartaj Aziz, the Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs, told the Senate that Pakistan on Monday, and warned that Islamabad must avoid “complicating the process by prematurely discussing it”. “We support every action against terrorism”, he added.
Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affaisrs, Wednesday said the Indian Foreign Secretary is likely to visit Islamabad in middle of next month.
When Chairman Senate questioned Foreign Advisor over 4 countries not joining the alliance, Foreign Advisor said that Pakistan is not the only country to have joined the alliance and there are 34 others.
Later, Radio Pakistan tweeted that “Foreign Secretaries of Pakistan and India will meet in Islamabad next month to discuss all outstanding issues”.
Pakistan and India have agreed to reinitiate a comprehensive dialogue process.
Aziz added that when the PML-N came into power, the prime minister wrote letters to all missions that economic diplomacy was the country’s top priority.
Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and U.S. are trying to resume dialogue between Kabul and Taliban in January but no positive response has come from Taliban side.
