No explosives found on German plane grounded in Budapest
The flight had left Berlin, the German capital, before the alarm was raised.
A flight to Egypt operated by Thomas Cook Group Plc’s Condor unit made an unscheduled landing in Budapest after receiving a bomb threat.
A bomb threat has forced a passenger jet to make an emergency landing.
On approaching Belgrade, pilots chose to turn back the plane carrying 130 passengers and seven staff and land in Budapest.
“Police have finished the search and have not found any explosives or explosive devices”, Hungarian police spokeswoman Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs said.
German airline Condor said that the Airbus A321 from Berlin with 140 passengers and crew on board diverted to Budapest after an “unspecific warning given by telephone”. Condor was not immediately available for a comment.
Police will give more information later, she said. The plane was escorted into Hungarian airspace by a pair of fighter jets of the Hungarian Air Force, the Defence Ministry said, and landed at Liszt Ferenc Airport shortly before noon local time (1100 GMT) on Monday.
