No felony charges for suspended Ishmael Adams of No. 9 UCLA
Coach Jim Mora announced Tuesday morning that senior and starting cornerback Fabian Moreau will miss the rest of the season because of a lisfranc injury, and he also said that redshirt junior cornerback Ishmael Adams has been reinstated to the team after serving almost a monthlong suspension.
UCLA plays at No. 16 Arizona on Saturday in a Pac-12 South game.
Adams started every game in his first two seasons at UCLA, earning all-conference honors a year ago .
After a rough summer in which sophomore running back Craig Lee was supposed to be getting his grades in order, it came out today that he is no longer with team.
“We feel, as a program, he’s missed a quarter of his season and he’s shown remorse”.
Moreau, who will have surgery on Tuesday, started the first three games for the Bruins this year and 28 combined over the past three seasons.
“We reviewed and found insufficient evidence for felony filings, so we referred it to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s offices for misdemeanor filings review”, said Jane Robison, spokesperson for the Los Angeles district attorney, per Kyle Bonagura of ESPN.com.
TCU coach Gary Patterson said defensive end Mike Tuaua, arrested Monday on robbery and assault charges, was suspended after the incident, but he defended the player to reporters. “So we’re going to move forward”. “I don’t know if he’s ready to play a whole game, but he won’t have to”. An All-Pac-12 second-teamer last season, Moreau is expected to apply for a hardship waiver in an attempt to regain his final season of eligibility.
Mora said the DA’s decision to avoid felony charges played a part in his decision, per Jack Wang of the Los Angeles Daily News. The senior was sidelined early in the Bruins’ 24-23 victory over BYU at the Rose Bowl last weekend. “You lose Eddie Vanderdoes and then you lose Fabian Moreau, that’s pretty significant”.
