No Horde Mode For ‘Gears of War: Ultimate Edition’ On Xbox One
Germany has really strict rules about violence in video games, and the Gears of War series has always struggled to launch over there. The Xbox one release is set for August 25, so expect it to be some time after that.
“Gears on Win10 is later than Xbox One version”, Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed, responding to a fan question on Twitter.
Sadly for PC gamers, this date only applies to the Xbox One version.
The reasons were later clarified. However, news has recently come out that Gears of War developer The Coalition announced that the famous Horde Mode from the original Gears of War titles will not be included in the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One. “The DX12 version will support 4K resolution, unlimited refresh rates and controller and mouse and keyboard controls, so there was a bit more for us to test, optimize and ideal”.
We aren’t exactly sure when the PC version will be coming, as no official release date has been confirmed.
The very recent local Xbox One price cut puts a spanner in my plans.
The Coalition may be hard at work on Gears of War 4, the highly anticipated sequel for the franchise which was only made possible when Microsoft bought the IP from Epic Games, but it first has to prove itself with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Microsoft have also announced that Fable Legends and Killer Instinct will be coming to PC in the future, complete with cross-platform multiplayer and improved visual fidelity.
Here’s what else makes the Ultimate edition…ultimate.
