No indictments returned against 2 officers involved in probe of Ohio traffic

Two University of Cincinnati police officers who witnessed fellow cop Ray Tensing fatally shoot unarmed black driver Sam DuBose will not face criminal charges.

Since the release of Tensing’s body camera video, two prevailing and conflicting accounts of what it actually shows have emerged.

The bodycam video shows Tensing approach the vehicle and ask DuBose for his license and registration. The video evidence played a major role in the prosecutors’ decision to charge Tensing. But there is no indication on the video of how he ended up on the ground.

However, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Wednesday that Tensing’s claim was a lie and that Tensing had fallen backward after shooting DuBose in the head.

Kidd and Lindenschmidt were placed on leave Thursday amid protests calling for the DA to “charge the second officer”-meaning Kidd-with lying”. No telephone listing for Kidd could be found.

That as the University of Findlay moves toward creating its own police department, staffed with certified peace officers who will have full police powers.
