No left shark? Super Bowl 50’s colourful half-time show
Coldplay was the headline act at Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show, but it was R&B super stars Beyonce and Bruno Mars who delivered the sizzle for a lively, upbeat performance that paid homage to previous halftime show headliners.
According to International Business Times, this year’s Super Bowl halftime show will last 30 minutes.
Coldplay actually played “Clocks” at the Super Bowl, because the game wasn’t putting us to sleep enough already. The two songs were made for the band’s new album entitled, “A Head Full of Dreams”.
“I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate…” she told NFL.com, adding that she re-watched iconic performances to get her prepared.
In the middle of a colorful, psychedelic performance, Bruno Mars came in to perform Uptown Funk clad in leather jumpsuit and gold chain. Or, since this its the Super Bowl and its halftime show were all about nostalgia, an “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke” moment.
“Everyone who does this show knows it’s the biggest honour”. The video features a cameo by Blue Ivy, 4, her daughter with Jay Z.
Coldplay, Beyonce and Mars then took the stage together to finish off the show with a rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You”.
Mars was joined by his own band, The Hooligans, as well as The Red Hot Chili Peppers for the Super Bowl 48 halftime show. Funnily enough, Bruno has been the silent one this year, as we’ve not a clue what to expect from him tonight.
It certainly wasn’t the best halftime show, as users on social media were quick to point out.
THere were speculated surprise guests including Beyonce’s husband, rapper Jay-Z, who collaborated with Coldplay on the song “Lost!” from the 2008 EP Prospekt’s March.
