No Luck for Colts because of concussion
The Colts and Steelers cap off a great day of Thanksgiving games, and all eyes will likely be on Indianapolis’ second-string quarterback when the two teams meet Thursday night. Obviously, the Colts defense is ripe for the picking, and it’s going to be incumbent upon Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Co.to produce and reap a harvest of yards and points.
Bell had another workhorse performance and rushed for 120 yards on 23 carries. In a five-game stretch from his season debut to last week’s game, he ran for only 289 yards and 3.5 yards per carry. This week’s game will mark the Steelers’ eighth Thanksgiving Day game in franchise history, and eighth on the road.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts can’t quite believe the position they find themselves in, struggling to make the playoffs. Cornerback Vontae Davis has been dealing with an ankle injury and safety Clayton Geathers is in the concussion protocol.
While replacement Scott Tolzien hung tough most of the night, the performance wasn’t good enough to extend the Colts’ 10-game winning streak on Thursday nights. Mike Mitchell picked that one off in the fourth quarter and returned it 26 yards to the Steelers’ 36.
Meanwhile, Andrew Luck has completed 236 of 375 passes for 19 touchdowns and 2,827 yards.
How many points did they get out of that drive? The NFL Odds for the game have the Steelers listed as a massive favorite to pick up this win.
The drawback to Morris is that he’s never been active for an National Football League game and has quarterbacked the scout team for the past two and a half months. They also sit at second place in their division with a record of 5-5. “They’ll have an increased commitment in trying to control the flow of the game through him and the running game, and we have to counteract that with quality play”. The numbers he put up look like something out of a Madden video game.
At that pace, if Roethlisberger played the Colts every week, he’d throw for 7,088 yards and 80 touchdowns. “Credit the Steelers, they made them”. The Steelers have now outscored the Colts 124-51 over the past three meetings. Tolzien is 56-of-91 for 721 yards, a touchdown and five interceptions in six career appearances.
Indy came back to score, thanks to a roughing the passer penalty on Lawrence Timmons and a blitz by the Steelers that did not work. Hilton finished the night with three receptions for 54 yards. Tolzein himself, blessed with far more courage than foot speed, was unable to push the ball in either on the ground or in the air on two separate first-and-goals inside the 5-yard-line.
