No Luck? No Hasselbeck? Colts might have to start Charlie Whitehurst
Pro Bowl safety Mike Adams (left ankle) and outside linebacker Erik Walden (heel) are probably against Pittsburgh (6-5).
Bleacher Report’s Matt Fitzgerald wrote that “ESPN’s Ed Werder reported on November 11 that the Colts are ‘realistically expecting [Luck] to miss at least a month and [the] team [is] prepared for [a] potentially longer absence, ‘ citing a league source”. Hasselbeck said he got X-rays after the game and was dealing with pain. “I got cut underneath my legs and lost my legs and got hit on top of my head and got my head compressed into my neck”.
In Hasselbeck’s undefeated stint, he’s thrown for 1,023 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions, while completing 64.7 percent of his passes. One occurred in the first quarter, and the second happened in the third quarter “on the play I was down for a little bit”.
“We didn’t see a lot of the stuff that we necessarily prepared for, but we kind of knew that might be the case also”, Hasselbeck said.
Hasselbeck was replaced by third-string quarterback Charlie Whitehurst. If Hasselbeck is unable to play in Jacksonville on Sunday Whitehurst would likely make the 10 start of his career. Hasselbeck has been under center for four of the team’s six wins this season.
His play during those four games caused a minor buzz about whether the Colts should continue to start Hasselbeck once Andrew Luck returns from kidney and abdomen injuries.
