No Man Is Gonna Touch Draymond Green’s Head
It was the Bucks who handed the Warriors their first and only loss of the season last Saturday in Milwaukee, but the Warriors managed to pull out a win at home in response. “We’re a long way past trying to beat the Milwaukee Bucks in December”.
After the final buzzer Friday, Bucks guard O.J. Mayo confronted Green about pregame comments he had directed at Michael Carter-Williams, who had celebrated the Bucks handing the Warriors their lone loss with a look toward their bench.
It was the Warriors who were expected to come out of the gates fired up after suffering their first loss of the season six days earlier at Milwaukee. “We use our length on the defensive end and on the offensive end and we try to make it as tough as possible for them”. Green slapped it away & Khris Middleton then pushed Green. But ain’t no man gonna touch my head.
“There are different ways of getting your point across rather than going to the media bashing one of our brothers”, Mayo said.
Klay Thompson scored 27 points and Stephen Curry poured in 26 to lead five Warriors scoring in double figures.
“We were very public about the fact that we wanted to get revenge”. Both sides played it close to start the game, with neither team able to gain more than a basket lead until Festus Ezeli’s putback gave the Warriors a 29-24 lead with 3:21 left in the first quarter. “If you’re going to say that about another team you should expect… they’re not going to fold”.
Green made a 3-pointer to cut Milwaukee’s lead to 100-97.
“They played at a great pace, had great shot selection, Giannis (Antetokounmpo) was killing us on the block and thank God we made the right adjustment in the fourth quarter”, he said. “I’m a grown man”. “That’s what we needed at that point”.
The game stayed tight from there before Curry used a slick crossover to score a layup that put the Warriors up for good with just over two minutes left. Butler then missed a 3 as time expired, ending the Bulls’ four-game winning streak. The Warriors had vowed to get revenge leading into the rematch, yet emotional leader Draymond Green wasn’t happy with the effort. Green played a pivotal role in the comeback down the stretch, as he scored 21 points with nine rebounds and eight assists. Michael Carter-Williams led the Bucks with 24. Former Warriors player Sonny Parker, who is the father of Milwaukee F Jabari Parker, got a nice ovation when shown on the scoreboard in a Warriors shirt and Bucks hat.
The Bucks (10-18) lost for the third straight time on their West Coast trip and their road losing streak was extended to 12 games.
“Our guys turned it up in the second half”.
“They came out, they wanted a piece of the champs and we weren’t fighting back”, Walton said.
