No Manchester United offer for Pedro, insists Bartomeu
Guardiola coached the forward at the Camp Nou and is full of praise for his abilities, backing Pedro to make the grade wherever he wants to play.
Negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester United for Pedro Rodriguez have reportedly hit a stumbling block over valuation.
The Spaniard’s future in Catalonia has been called in question following his lack of first-team opportunities during the 2014-15 campaign as he found himself behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the pecking order under manager Luis Enrique.
But amid conflicting reports in Spain about a £21 million buyout clause that United may be able to exploit to sign Pedro, Bartomeu is adamant that no approach has been made for the unsettled 28-year-old.
Speaking at an Audi Cup press conference, Guardiola was asked about Pedro and his likely exit from Barcelona.
“I think it would be a good challenge for him and he will have more playing time”.
“He is one of the best players you can imagine”, the former Barca boss is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. Regarding his abilities, there are no doubts: European champion with the national team and league champion with his club.
The Spanish worldwide has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and the Mirror reported last week that United officials had held initial talks with Barcelona ahead of their friendly game in the United States last month.
