No more 007 movies for Spectre helm Sam Mendes
“But along the way, I think it’s good to see him being emotional”.
Despite its global success, it has yet to match its predecessor Skyfall.
He teams with Madeleine Swann (Seydoux), who can help lead him to, but also needs protection from, this episode’s evil mastermind Oberhauser (Waltz). Sadly, the character left much to be desired. The site claimed that the actor’s first take in 2006’s “Casino Royale” “felt like a breath of fresh air, but nearly a decade later it’s gone stale”. It feels like a bit of a retread of that theme and one that doesn’t deliver the same quality of thought as Skyfall.
Daniel Craig returns for his fourth-and possibly final-James Bond film. The film earned an A- CinemaScore from audiences, although it received the worst reviews of any Bond movie Craig has appeared in. Meanwhile, back in London, the film follows C (Andrew Scott), who is in the late stages of constructing a giant surveillance centre in London that he believes will make the “Double-O’ program obsolete”.
With a fair but underwhelming 63 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics have mostly considered “Spectre” a disappointment in Craig’s run, though not on the level of “Quantum of Solace”.
Last September, BoyleSports (via Entertainment Weekly), an Ireland-based online betting firm, revealed that Tom Hardy is the odds-on favorite to succeed Daniel Craig with odds at 2/1, followed by Idris Elba at 3/1, Damian Lewis at 7/2 and Henry Cavill at 4/1.
While the film may have a few negative attributes, it’s an entertaining outing in the Bond catalogue – and brings back a few gimmicks that have been avoided since Craig took on the role. “And we really hope that the people in China will love the movie”.
The queer elements of the “James Bond” franchise has been a hot topic of debate lately, with openly gay Zachary Qunito saying the world is ready for a gay James Bond.
In both Spectre and Skyfall, James Bond finds himself face-to-face with an enemy that is fairly new to the series: modernity. Of course we know Bond is going to come out of the situation alive when the movie is only half over, but when he continuously escapes harrowing feats unscathed, there is even less to worry about.
