No more app-only, Myntra brings back mobile website
Looks like, Flipkart is busy rectifying some mistakes as the retailer also announced to drop its app-only plan.
Flipkart-owned fashion retailer Myntra has silently relaunched portions of its mobile website after shutting it down earlier this year focus on app-only model in March 2015. Unlike Flipkart Lite, Myntra users still would have to make the final purchase on the app and according to sources the firm is not enabling purchases via this mobile site. In fact, Myntra’s move to the app was so through that the website had even made a decision to stop operations on the normal site, asking buyers to first install the app before they could make any purchase.
In a statement few months ago, Snapdeal had said that in India many people were still using the mobile web.
Myntra’s strategy to lure customers into their app by exhibiting eye-candies and special offers compelled went down the lane compelling them to go for a reality check. However, the company had expected some kind of confusion initially of about 15 to 20 percent, but the company strongly believed that turmoil would settle down gradually. Its decision to retract from “app-only” has been linked to its declining sales and traffic. With Myntra, the focus still appears to be around the app since an actual purchase is not possible on the mobile website.
A source said that it will be on the lines of the list available on the mobile site and at the same time will put Myntra back on the google search platform.
After Flipkart also decided to make a move to app-only mode by closing down their mobile website, there was a virtual revolt among e-shoppers, and we received huge number of comments (or rather complaints) against this move. So, it wouldn’t be no more surprising even if Myntra rolls out with a new lite version of Myntra following the footsteps of Flipkart and Snapdeal. Yes, smartphones are the future and we are pacing towards a full-fledged mobile world. It would rather build a super-lite mobile app capable of delivering easy payments without any hiccups. Some 70% of Flipkart’s traffic now comes through the mobile. Now that 4G is making its way into our lives, a lite mobile site seems like the natural option.
