No offer received for Cristiano Ronaldo, says Florentino Perez
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has never been one to mince his words, so football fans were excited to hear what the recently re-elected businessman had to say about Cristiano Ronaldo’s current status at the club.
They add that the Ronaldo case is complicated and full of legal nuances and that whilst the tax authorities in Spain started with Barcelona, they are now targeting Real Madrid.
Manchester United will be taking in defender Victor Lindelof – as he is said to be the club’s first signing this summer.
Perez said: “I will always defend Cristiano as a person and as a footballer”.
“It’s no coincidence that he’s in a very important tournament, the Confederations Cup”.
The Portugal superstar is believed to have taken an “irreversible” decision to leave Real Madrid this summer. According to those reports, Mou thinks this has all been a ploy from his Portuguese compatriot to get more money and respect from Madrid.
“Obviously something has happened, something has affected him, his credibility”, Perez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. “And I’m not contemplating that, especially without speaking with him”.
Ronaldo is now on global duty with Portugal at the Confederations Cup, but, according to the report, has told his teammates that Perez’s words were “better late than never” and have conveniently led to him having a change of heart.
The 54-year-old Mourinho, who coached Madrid from 2010-13, now coaches Manchester United.
When it comes to more local rivals United intend to beat Man City in the race to sign Nelson Semedo and have tabled a £30m bid for the Benfica right-back.
In quotes carried on Marca’s website, Perez said: “I have not spoken to him”. Cristiano Ronaldo has the potential to make an impact on other teams as well, but the question is, which teams will bite?
“And neither have we made any offers for anybody”.
According to “Daily Express” in the camp “Red devils” doubted the feasibility of the transfer of Ronaldo.
Benfica defender Victor Lindelof is the only arrival to date and a new number nine is a priority in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s serious knee ligament injury.
The offer would also include David de Gea, the United goalkeeper formerly of Atletico Madrid. “Of course we are following him, he’s an interesting prospect”. “The truth is that we have great goalkeepers”.
