No “Official” Offer From Manchester United To Jose Mourinho Claims Super Agent
Though the exact person that will replace him is still unknown, Jose Mourinho, who was recently sacked by Chelsea, has been linked to the job.
The Dutchman is due to conduct his weekly press conference at the AON Training Complex in Carrington at 3:30pm.
Shortly after he stormed out and told the journalists to “enjoy the wine and a mince pies”.
The press conference lasted just four minutes and 58 seconds in total.
No matter the foreplay, it seems if van Gaal is shown the door by United hierarchy, Mourinho is set to take his throne in a four-year deal worth around $12m per season.
Van Gaal said: “Has anybody in this room not a feeling to apologise to me? That’s what I’m wondering”, he snapped after being asked about Arsene Wenger’s claim Van Gaal’s treatment had been “disrespectful”.
Van Gaal’s position at United has come under fire following their poor performances in recent weeks.
Accusing the media of not sticking to the facts and “creating soemthing that is not good” Van Gaal said: “And now I have to answer questions?”
He added: “What do you think happens with my wife or with my kids?” Or with my grandchildren? Or my friends? What do you think?
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the meeting in question was commercial-related and Van Gaal’s future at the helm was not discussed by the board.
“I don’t think I want to do it”.
Speaking after the loss to Norwich, Van Gaal insisted he had the backing of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and his own players.
“I want to say only that I have tried to lift the confidence of my players I have done everything this week”. I have done everything this week.
“The most important support is from the players because the players have to do it on the pitch and the chemistry between the players and the manager and his staff is very important”. I can imagine that you can write about that subject.
– As a manager, Mark Hughes was unbeaten in his first three Premier League games against Man Utd (W2 D1) but has won just one of his 14 meetings with them since (W1 D3 L10).
United travel to Stoke on Boxing Day before hosting Chelsea on December 28.
