‘No one should be judged by their race or their color’
She said the presumptive GOP nominee would take the U.S.in the wrong direction on reproductive rights, the economy, the environment and human rights.
“We have to restore the rule of law – on our border, in our government, no matter where it is”.
As he did Tuesday in marking the end of Republican primaries, Trump avoided the free-wheeling rhetorical style of his rallies; instead, he delivered a short speech from a teleprompter in which he outlined his campaign themes while delivering a harsh attack on his Democratic opponent, Clinton.
Trump accused Clinton of using a private email server during her time as secretary of state in order to “hide her corrupt dealings”.
In sharp contrast to Trump, Clinton had won over the hearts of the crowd at Planned Parenthood Action Fund before she even stepped on stage.
“We will not tolerate politicians or anyone else putting down Muslims and blaming Muslims for a few people”, said Rabbi Michael Lerner, who said he attended the ceremony in Louisville Kentucky as a representative of American Jews.
“I think there are three of you out there”, he said.
Rabbis Gil Steinlauf, senior rabbi at Adas Israel Congregation, Washington’s largest Conservative synagogue, said he decried “the words of hatred and bigotry, the demagoguery, the dehumanizing, the promises of discrimination and oppression that characterize the campaign of Donald Trump”.
“We will restore faith to its proper mantle in our society”, Trump promised. That’s what we have to do, and we have to do that soon. “We have to take care of the people who are here”. “So important. We’ll uphold the values our founders gave us, which we’re not doing now”. “Marriage and family as the building block of happiness and success”, the thrice-married real estate developer and reality TV star said.
Concerned Women for America CEO Penny Young Nance, whose group was one of the co-sponsors of the conference, told NPR’s Morning Edition that she backs Trump over Clinton, but the question was just how hard she and other like-minded supporters would work to get him elected.
“I know many, many, very successful people”, he said.
“These donors own Hillary Clinton – they own her”, Trump told a cheering crowd, adding: “The bottom line is, I will be working for you”. “Believe me, I know plenty with lots of money, and they’re not happy people”.
In November, Clinton called for expanding the number of Syrian refugees accepted into the United States from 10,000 to 65,000, arguing that the country has “always welcomed immigrants and refugees” while saying they should be “carefully vetted”.
At one point the speech was interrupted by protesters, whom Trump called “professional agitators”.
The protesters were quickly escorted out of the conference hall by security. What’s happening in our country is so sad.
“We’ve done very well with the evangelicals and religion, generally speaking”, Trump said.
