No origin story for Spider Man reboot: Scriptwriters
Production has been under way on Captain America: Civil War since May, but it was never confirmed when Tom Holland would actually shoot his cameo appearance.
ComicBook.com also previously reported that “Vacation” writers John Frances Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein stated that the “Spider-Man” reboot film will not focus on Peter’s origins when he became the Web-Slinger, but rather his struggles of balancing his high school life and being a vigilante on an everyday basis.
It’s unclear just how big Spidey’s cameo is in Civil War, though given the hard work Marvel put into cutting a deal with Sony to collaborate on the future of the character, I imagine we’ll get more than just a quick pop-in. “We’ve discussed certain characters, but nothing is certain yet, for sure”, said Daley. Good news to all Marvel fans as a leaked cast details for the “Spider-Man” reboot film in the MCU have been revealed along two possible villains.
We now have proof that Spider-Man will indeed show up in Captain America: Civil War – and has already been on set. Yet, all anyone wants to talk about is their next gig, writing the solo Spider-Man movie for Marvel.
The internet has been chock full of Spider-Man rumours this week. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), Watts described the qualities that he thinks makes Holland an ideal Spider-Man. And I think it’ll be a fun departure from the Peter Parker that you’ve seen.
“I think that everybody feels like you know he got bit by a spider and you know Uncle Ben died, and we probably don’t need to revisit that”, said Goldstein.
It comes as no surprise that Spider-Man will appear in the film, as Marvel announced earlier this year that it plans on rebooting the character, bringing Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as making him an Avenger. Experts even predict that it might emerge as Marvel’s funniest film.
Goldstein added that since Marvel cast a real kid for the role so they are going to write more about a real kid who’s out in high school. And in many ways the superpowers amplify that and exacerbate his trying to fit in. As such, spies would likely be on the lookout to get any glimpses or hints at Holland filming his scene, with or without the new Spider-Man suit.
That’s because the film, which features a teenaged Peter Parker, will keep the Wall Crawler in High School.
