‘No question’ Braxton No. 2 QB says Meyer
Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has experienced great success since becoming the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback, but he has not stayed out of trouble since entering college.
Barrett, a redshirt sophomore, is scheduled for arraignment Friday for the misdemeanor charges, according to Franklin County records. With Barrett sidelined, who will be the next man up?
In his career, Barrett completed 14 of 18 passes for 223 yards with three touchdowns in what might have been Ohio State’s most impressive victory of the season. Meyer’s decision to have Barrett forfeit part of his scholarship, instead of missing additional football games, may be a welcome resolution for fans, who don’t have to face the prospect of missing Barrett for the November stretch.
Barrett, a team captain, will also forfeit his scholarship for one term.
Prediction: Even though Minnesota played a trap game against the Michigan Wolverines last Saturday, I can’t see them do the same thing this weekend.
“There’s no question [Miller]’s our No. 2 quarterback”, Meyer said at his weekly press conference Monday, according to Eric Seger of Eleven Warriors.
A team that was just beginning to roll with Barrett reappointed as the starter in a 49-7 win at Rutgers on October 24 will turn back to Jones, who started the first seven games but has struggled to recapture his virtuoso form from last year’s national title run. “But J.T.is going to deal with something he’s never had to deal with before”. Meyer said he reviewed the facts from the citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and backing without safety.
“I think that they played their best game”, Meyer said.
“He can throw”, Meyer said. “He actually called me Sunday because he just wanted to explain to me what happened himself”.
It was a humble Barrett that showed up at Meyer’s house on Saturday, Meyer said.
Warinner said Barrett still has the backing of the team. The man is good for 100 yards every single game, and he should have no problem keeping that trend going in Week 10.
“I think it does affect the momentum because we were getting J.T.in there more and more and we were improving week to week”, he said.
Ohio State will go back to starting Cardale Jones this week, just two weeks after replacing Jones with Barrett.
