No quick fix to Chelsea’s problems, warns Hiddink
Caretaker manager, Guus Hiddink, knows he doesn’t have much time to steady the ship and can’t afford to slip up on Saturday.
Costa was criticised for throwing his substitutes’ bib in the direction of Jose Mourinho during Chelsea’s goalless draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on November 29, frustrated at remaining unused.
‘I’ve not spoken to him in a while.
Hiddink was appointed manager of the Blues until the end of the season following Jose Mourinho’s sacking over a week ago. “He was focused more on what he is hired for here, and that is to help to score or to assist and not going into other things”, he added. Flores knows Hiddink well having played under him for three years at Valencia, and expects Chelsea’s under-performing players to respond positively.
“It was also an emotional reaction born of frustration”. I’ve never had the experience of being able to go to the stadium with the family at Christmas. “I can not have any complaints about him”. One of Chelsea’s most potent and creative attacking forces last term, Hazard has been a shadow of his former self – but Hiddink vowed to restore the ex-Lille star to former glories.
Chelsea’s interim manager, Guus Hiddink, claims that he can lead the club to the top half of the table, and they can still achieve their target of a top-four finish after a disastrous first half of the 2015/16 campaign.
The Dutchman is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Generally, I set targets”. With 12 goals he’s only three adrift of Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy, and given his recent form, he could well go on and overtake the Foxes’ forward.
“Then the Champions League, then the FA Cup. They are very disciplined and have two very strong strikers in (Odion) Ighalo and (Troy) Deeney”, said Hiddink, who is on a second spell at “The Blues”.
“He is always like a father figure to the team, speaking to the players individually, putting an arm around them and getting feedback from the team on what we think problems are and then trying to fix them”.
