No, really, I saw thousands of people in New Jersey celebrating the
Those Muslims were imaginary.
The news is better still for Trump in New Hampshire, where CBS/YouGov found that he has an even more commanding lead. Many people have taken to the internet to chastise and condemn Trump’s statement. It claimed 16 percent of white people murdered are killed by other whites, while 81 percent of white people murdered are killed by blacks.
Trump made several comments last week, and over the weekend, about monitoring certain mosques and consideration of a possible database for muslims. “So did you misspeak yesterday?”
TRUMP: It did happen.
On ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Trump was asked if he was “unequivocally” ruling out a database to track all Muslims, to which he replied “No, not at all”.
“You saw that with your own eyes? Police say it didn’t happen”.
Republican Presidential wannabe Ben Carson was me-tooing Republican front runner Donald Trump’s widely condemned and unproven assertion that after the twin towers fell Trump saw thousands of people that he assumes were Muslims cheering in delight in New Jersey. Now, I know they don’t like to talk about it. (…) There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population that were cheering as the buildings came down. “This is not the way Bernie Sanders handled his problem I will tell you, but I have a lot of fans and they were not happy about it. And this was a very obnoxious guy, a troublemaker”.
George Pataki, the governor of NY at the time of the attacks who is also running for the Republican presidential nomination, responded on Twitter. We received a dozen emails from readers who swear they saw such celebratory behavior, typically in television news coverage at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. The host reminded Trump that police officials denied these rumors, but Trump stood by what he originally said at the rally.
Trump is boldly leading an army of nobody. “No one has been able to verify this as far as we can tell and going over our own materials, it did not happen”. Meanwhile, the independent fact-checking website, Politifact, concluded: “Trump’s recollection of events in New Jersey in the hours after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks flies in the face of all the evidence we could find”.
But, it’s probably worth noting here, that doesn’t quite match up to THOUSANDS cheering (as explained by the reporter on that WaPo story).
