“Nobody knows what will happen” – Ronaldo casts doubt on Real Madrid future
After a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s opening Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk two weeks ago, last season’s joint top scorer with 10 goals has now already hit the mark five times in this season’s competition.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, revealed Raúl had sent him a congratulatory message urging him to “score 300 more”, and again denied suggestions that he might leave Real in the short term, possibly to return to his former club Manchester United.
Ronaldo is also the record scorer in the Champions League: he has 81 (66 for Madrid, 15 for United).
“It’s not bad, eh?”
Ronaldo achieved the milestone in the 29th minute when he latched onto fire a fine pass from Isco.
In a post match interview, Ronaldo said: ‘I’m very happy.
The forward seems to be content in Spain but is open to leaving Madrid saying, per Marca, “I’m happy at Real Madrid”. That was not something I thought of doing when I arrived.
Ronaldo told the reporter: “You know why I don’t speak more often?”
Paris St-Germain are behind Real on goal difference after they also made it back-to-back wins with a 3-0 victory over Shaktar in Lviv.
“The most important thing is to win”. It was great to be here.
Ronaldo revealed the reasons for his frustration with the media when asked about the recent controversy involving Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, whom he played alongside during his time at United.
“Six points, we are top of the group”. The game was a little bit tough.
“We controlled the play well throughout and the substitutions were because a few of my players were getting tired”, he concluded.
The Portuguese national scored his 500th goal for club and country in only 753 career games after he banged one home against Malmo on Wednesday. “The pitch is a little bit small, but it was good”.
