Noel Gallagher BLASTS One Direction’s Harry Styles and Zayn Malik
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher of the band Oasis, whose abrasive relationship has made headlines since the band’s split in 2009, will reunite for a documentary.
In an interview with the new issue of Esquire magazine, he said: “The last six months were f***ing bad, it was excruciating”.
“Fame’s wasted on these c–s today”. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Noel, who has never been one to hold back, is absolutely hilarious as he talks the magazine’s editor, Alex Blimes, about his hatred of talking about his own music, his love for his wife, Sarah Macdonald, and why he thinks no one should give a f*** what One Direction are up to.
The “Wonderwall” hitmaker, 48, went on to once again shut down speculation of the band getting back together because he doesn’t think they’d ever be able to have the same success as they did the first time around. The High Flying Birds frontman told Esquire he has his five-year plan mapped out and a reunion with his younger brother, Liam, isn’t part of it. What people think of as rock “n” roll now is you can buy The Rolling Stones’ 1972 tour T-shirt in Topman. I’d say seven out of that 11 all moved to Manchester from Ireland, and they’ve congregated around a five square-mile area and none of them are leaving.
“I had 30 to 40 kids sleeping outside my house every night, so much so that the council put in two benches, f***ing bolted them to my wall”.
“We walked out through the crowd as they came on, and they were playing this post-techno: ‘de-de-de-de.’ We were a bit pissed”. The greatest quote was – I laughed out loud when I read it – “I just want to be a normal 22-year-old”. I havent got a My Drug Hell story because it was f***ing brilliant. People say, “They’re interesting”. In a 1996 interview, Noel Gallagher defended the siblings’ feuding. “To me, it’s about f****** utter gob*****s just being f****** headcases”.
“The amount of rock stars” kids that make something of themselves you could probably count on one hand. It blew up. And that was it. I sat in the vehicle and thought, “You know what, I’ve done enough now”.
