Nokia 3310 is back
After 17 years, Nokia has re-released one of its “icons”, the 3310 model.
What’s in a Name? At the time of retirement, 126 million units were sold and the device earned the title of the world’s best-selling phone, according to Nokia. Here are seven features of the Noki 3310 (2017) you just can’t miss. We’ve seen countless memes and video demos on how “indestructible” the original 3310 was. Then, after making as if to close the show, they did an Apple, and busted out “one more thing” – the new 3310 that’s been rumoured for weeks. It’s also nearly half the weight – the original was 133g, the new one is 79g. The new Nokia 3310 also includes the standard Micro-USB port for charging instead of the pins.
Aside from the obvious different design, there are a couple of meaningful changes that HDM Global implemented to make the modern Nokia 3310 more suitable for the demands of today’s customers. A reliable phone would be the fancy of a lot of customers.
Like the old model, the new Nokia 3310 offers snake game and marathon battery life. It is set to come with a LED flash and under the hood is 1200mAh removable battery which promises to stay up to 22 hours with a standby time of up to 31 days. Several former Nokia employees work for the company, and HMD president Florian Seiche said a revamped Nokia 3310 was a frequent request from customers who wanted a simple, durable phone. It has a 3.5mm audio connector slot and you get a headphone jack for listening to music or FM radio.
The device sports a bigger 2.4 inch coloured screen which also lets you play the good old Snake game in colour.
Another smartphone that is expected to be announced at MWC is the Nokia 8. The new 3310 qualifies as a “feature phone” rather than a smartphone as it relies on 2.5G connectivity – which has slower data speeds than 3G or 4G.
