Nokia 8 To Be Announced Later Today
Either way it’s the first flagship phone from HMD Global, the Finnish company that now owns the Nokia smartphone name.
The high-end Nokia 8, due out next month, will take on new devices from Apple and Samsung.
New Nokia 8 is a direct challenger to other Android-based flagship models in the market and is priced accordingly – and packs pretty familiar features, too. Best of all, the Nokia 8 only cost €699 (around £550). While the addition will serve a niche crowd, it can significantly improve the audio experience for anyone out there if it works just as Nokia is claiming. In an interview, Nokia spokespeople noted how they had taken design cues from furniture, particularly lamps. Now we’re getting a look at the company’s first flagship. Neither hits the 8mm mark, even though their camera modules stick out from the surface. The handset comes in four colours, glossy Polished Copper and Polished Blue, and matte Tempered Blue and Steel, which gives a varied choice for buyers. This puts Nokia 8 in league with the likes of Moto Z2 Force, Samsung Galaxy, and OnePlus 5. The Nokia Mobile twitter handle has also posted a tweet showing YouTubers Jonathan Morrison and MoreAliA who are expected to be present at the Nokia 8 unveiling. The advantage to having thick bezels is that the fingerprint reader is situated at the front, allowing easy access to unlock your phone. Although we don’t know all the details at this point, HMD says that Nokia 8’s OZO tech will greatly improve the audio-recording capabilities of the device, bringing 360° audio capture to 4K video recording. The rear camera supports a “bokeh” mode like numerous other dual cameras in the market.
If you’ve been longing for a Nokia flagship running Android since the Lumia days, then this is as close as you will get.
802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (MIMO), BT 5.0, GPS/AGPS+GLONASS+BDS, NFC (sharing) ANT+. Both sensors have an aperture of f/2.0. Even the dual camera system on the device is an interesting one as it doesn’t use the widely adopted wide angle lens and telephoto lens combination.
Again, the Nokia 8 is not headed to the U.S. as far as we know, but should rollout in Europe throughout September. So, below we will talk more about OZO Audio, Dual-Sight feature and Liquid cooling. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4 gigs of RAM, 64 gigs of internal storage which can be expandable and a 3090 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The camera comes with a dual toned LED flash. HMD is calling this “bothie” mode rather than “selfie”. This is a feature that some apps already offer, but having it ready and waiting on your phone makes you much more likely to actually use it. You also have full manual controls, the ability to shoot panoramas and a depth-of-field setting to produce a neat bokeh effect.
Antenna bands on the Nokia 8 are visible along the top and bottom of the phone, but each fits in with the look of the phone.
